Happy Monday Everyone!

In case you needed a not so gentle nudge to spend your coins BUY THIS BOOK, NOW! I’m thrilled for Vanessa, and I wish her much success with this series. The preliminary buzz has been great, and I cannot wait to dive in.

Without further ado, take it away Vanessa!

I always find author interviews kind of boring. We only get to see one side of an author, the polite side. If you had an evil doppelganger, what detail would they enjoy revealing about you to the public that people would find surprising and possibly questionable?

This is a very hard question. I think I’m rather boring and wholesome. I think that would be my accidental shoplifting heist. When I was kid, I thought the booklets on the counter at some store were free, and I scooped up a few and tried to put them in my mother’s purse. Let’s just say, they weren’t free, nor was my behind whooped-free, or the many times I paid having to hear the talk about how to act when in a store.

What inspired you to write the Advertisements for Love series?

I’m compelled to write romances because I truly believe all love stories need to be told. If you look at this advertisement, you can see how all the women were made fun of, but one woman, the Blackamoor was drawn to be grotesque. It didn’t sit well with me, and I decided to give the women the power and this series showcases three heiresses and hopefully they will find there happy ever after in this series.

Say you’re starring in a rom-com, who would you want cast as your love interest?

Always Pierce Brosnan. The answer is always the Best Bond, the Remington Steele.

What’s one rule you’ve set for yourself?

It’s okay to fail. If I tried and gave it my all, then it’s not really a failure.

What made you happiest in 2017?

Other than my hubby and kiddo, it was working with my editor, Erin at Entangled. She gets me, and she knows how to make me better.

What’s your favorite board game?

Monopoly. I’m the ironing board.

Finish this sentence: The quality of your life is the quality of ________.

Your memories. You have to live and love. You have to do things that bring you joy. Those memories should be spectacular.

Describe your most romantic date.

Girl, I’ve been married for over twenty years, so you’re asking me to think. From what I remember, it would’ve been our first: a sweet dinner over a fire pit and then walking around downtown looking at the new Christmas season lights being put up.

If money wasn’t an issue, what would you spend your time doing?

It would be writing full time. I love these worlds I create.

Take your time and think about your answer deeply before responding. People are reading with bated breath…

Best breakfast main course: Pancakes, waffles, or French toast? THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

That would have to be pecan pancakes with hot bourbon maple syrup. Of course, this breakfast would have to be made by my husband, and he’s volunteering to do all the clean-up. Paradise.

**Bonus Question**

Ever tried BDSM? If not, would you?

Never tried. Not really into giving up that much control, and only my mama has ever spanked me. I’d like to keep it that way.

Bio:

Vanessa Riley here. I write Delightfully Different historical romances set in 1800s England, giving voice to voiceless 10,000 peoples of color who loved, laughed, and lived full lives, even as the sands of time buried their stories. I write of the 10,000-person Blackamoor and mulattoes population living in London during the time of Jane Austen. This population was free and as some gained wealth, some intermarried but all mingled in society.

*waves* Heeey, it’s Harper chiming in for a sec. Thank you for reading this Release Day Author Spotlight! If you’ve read The Bittersweet Bride, please leave a review on any of the websites above or Goodreads. Release Day reviews mean the world to an author. If you recall, the first cover for The Bittersweet Bride was not an accurate representation of the heroine, Theodosia. Because the book world spoke up, Vanessa was granted a new cover. It’s important that her publisher (and other publishers) see readers supporting stories such as these. Buy, read, review, and spread the word. When one of us succeeds, we all succeed.
